Biography
I was born in Moscow, Russia and moved to the United States as a child. Fortunate to have parents who supported my desire to create, art has been an important part of my life from an early age. I cannot remember a time when I was not drawing and painting, and I took many private art lessons throughout my adolescent years. After receiving a Masters in Art History, focusing on 17th century Dutch/Flemish art, I was inspired to resume painting and began pursuing a career as a professional artist. I have been included in magazine articles and placed in a number of art competitions. In addition, my works have sold to private collections in the United States and abroad. I currently live with my husband and two young sons in New York City.
Artist Statement
I am continually inspired by the beauty of nature, particularly flowers and fruit, whose forms are both sensual and structurally compelling. While their visual appeal initially draws me in, it is the act of painting them that sustains my practice. The repetition of petals or the clustered geometry of berries becomes meditative, almost hypnotic, creating a quiet rhythm within the work.
My compositions are intentionally minimal and often illuminated by direct sunlight, which lends them a subtle, fantastical quality. I strive to capture a sense of stillness and quiet that draws viewers in. I especially love rendering minute details that reward close looking; these small elements are what give my work its distinctive signature.
